Myofascial Release bodywork

Balance dynamic tension with Myofascial Release style bodywork. Biotensegrity is a structural framework that applies the architectural concept of tensegrity, continuous tension and discontinued compression, to biological organisms. Through this lens we are able to better understand our fascial network, and how we can help encourage optimal conditions for fascial remodeling and resilience.

Bodywork sessions are designed to improve or reintroduce fascial glide. This slide and glide, which occurs through fascial rehydration improves mobility, function, proprioception and interoception, and opens up new movement possibilities to be introduced and solidified in conjunction with intentional movement and supportive exercise programming.

  • chronic pain patients looking for pain management programs that work to reduce, mitigate, and alleviate ongoing issues

  • athletes looking to improve recovery and perform better

  • acute injuries older than 2 weeks

  • pre or post op surgical patients

  • individuals looking to gain more body awareness, agility, fluidity of movement and kinesthetic awareness

  • those looking to improve mobility, and correct maladaptive movement patterns

  • individuals seeking stress reduction, sleep disturbances, and emotional dysregulation

(12 weekly sessions / 75 minute sessions / scheduled the same day & time weekly for 3 months)

All clients are recommended to begin working with me here. The Fascial Integration Series is based on philosophies and practices inspired by Anatomy Trains Structural Integration, Tom Myers and Ida Rolf’s, Ten Series. Your journey begins with a postural analysis and movement screening, where photos and videos will be taken for the purpose of clinical notation and analysis of progress. These notes will be compiled throughout your 12 sessions. After session 1 you will receive a written report via email which will include a clear illustration and description of your starting point, including suspected postural imbalances and maladaptive patterns that will be explored and focused on throughout the series. Each session will include an analysis at the start of the session, including postural and gait screening. After the final session you will receive a follow up report, noting your progress from start to finish and any notes plans, and ideas for complimentary movement and practices to ensure lasting results.

The Fascial Integration Series was created in order to provide some structure to our work together. Think of this as a 12 week workout program, where the structure allows us to utilize progressive overload and planned sessions to create clear goals and provides markers to track progress. The sessions are structured to address the most superficial (outermost) layer of fascia and systematically works to the deeper (inermost) layers of fascia. Because your fascial system is an unbroken web of connective tissue, that layers over itself in a fractal-like-fashion restrictions caused by adherence and dehydration in the deeper layers can cause a ripple like effect to the outer layers. Most of our pain or experience of tightness may seem like a superficial problem, easily fixed by addressing the site directly, but without working to the root of the imbalance it’s common that the same or a different reactive problem will arise in the future. By working from the outside in we are able to track to the fascial disruptions, find the connecting links, or the “otherside”, as you’ll commonly hear me say in session.

Sessions are most commonly scheduled every week for 12 weeks. Clients are encouraged to find a regular day of the week and time that works to schedule recurring sessions. Consistency is key, as in any workout or bodywork practice, as this work builds on itself and requires that not too much time passes between sessions. If too much time elapses it may not be possible to move forward, as working to the deeper layers requires that the work in earlier session stays in tact. At the end of the 12 sessions we will have worked through all 12 layers of fascial that have been documented through anatomical dissection. It is recommended that you follow movement practices and guidelines that train fascia, as well as follow a supportive lifestyle to ensure lasting results.

Post 12 series many athletes and chronic pain patients move to a 1-3 month regular bodywork schedule, understanding that this work is most effective when utilized as preventative medicine.

Book a single session. Myofacial Release / Bodywork is a specialized type of manual therapy performed either on the table or on a chair. Please wear shorts, boxers/ underwear your comfortable being on the table in, and/ or a sports bra. Clients typically lay on top of the table, clothed, and work is designed to target the myofascial network which is your connective tissue matrix that creates structure. For this reason, less oil is used in order to maintain a friction like grip on the fascia when working. Occasionally clients will be asked to undress and lie under the sheet when areas of work require it. Please dress in comfortable clothing suitable for practice.
